The Union County Educational Services Commission (UCESC) was established in June 1969 as a public education agency to provide educational programs and services to disabled and non-disabled children who could not be served appropriately in a regular classroom setting or in the special education programs in their local districts. UCESC serves all 21 municipalities in Union County.
Since its inception, UCESC has been challenged not only by the growing number of students needing specialized instruction, but also by societal changes that are having a dramatic effect on children’s lives. Today, UCESC has grown to its present status of serving more than 7,000 children annually.

Annual Fundraising Event
For Special Needs Students
Since its development, the UCESF has strived to raise funds for large scale projects that would benefit the special student populations served by the Commission. Major funding projects include, a playground for the students of the Crossroads School, a community based life skills program for Lamberts Mill Academy Students; and a Pre-Employment Training Skills Project (P.E.T.S.) for the Westlake School. In addition, the Union County Educational Services Commission received a $50,000 donation from the Foundation in 2012. These funds were used to enhance the educational programs in the Commission.
The foundation has also been a primary recipient of funds raised at the annual “Drive for Autism” Golf Tournament and by special events hosted by the New Jersey Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America. The golf tournament has been coordinated by Anthony Trezza and his son Thomas for the past ten years collectively raising over $100,000. This year, Crossroads School received $6000 which will be used to purchase assistive educational technology and alternative communication devices for students diagnosed with Autism.
The NJ Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America has also been a long time supporter of the Commission’s Westlake School. Over the years, the Chapter has donated more than $50,000. This year the school received $7550. These funds will be used to purchase updated curriculum packages.
